What Is Officer Candidate School (OCS)?
Leadership isn't learned in a classroom alone. It's earned by stepping up to challenges, making sound decisions under pressure and inspiring others to succeed. Officer Candidate School (OCS) is where qualified college graduates and professionals begin that transformation.
Over the course of 13 weeks in Newport, Rhode Island, candidates complete a progressive program of military training, academics, physical fitness, and hands-on leadership development. Each phase builds the discipline, confidence and decision-making skills needed to earn a commission as a Navy Officer and prepare to lead Sailors around the world.
